This dynamic accessories boutique, which opened at the end of 2008, features a select group of international, national and local designers and their intriguing best-of collections – a continually changing showcase of wearable art (that is distinctive, creative, fun and functional). Merchandise is priced in the range of $75 – $5000, with median pricing from $500 – $1000.
The mission of MIX is to offer impactful and memorable, crafted merchandise created by designers who want to control their destiny and protect their product’s integrity. Many are unknown in the mainstream because they set up very exclusive channels and have not pursued broad exposure.
Frequently, customers get to literally mix with designers, who make personal appearances and trunk shows. Guests enjoy this interaction as another facet of recreation, a diversion after beach or pool, spa or golf.
The contributing designers are based in a variety of locations, from Sante Fe to New York to San Francisco, and beyond. MIX Literally Mixes It Up
With the price of gold and diamonds at a premium, MIX is the stage for designers’ venture into mixed metals and uncommon material combinations – even an eco-friendly line made of recyclable materials. The shift from fine jewelry to fashion jewelry also is evident, a showcase of designers’ different styles and points of view.
Manhattan-based architectural firm Janson Goldstein LLP designed MIX to have a light and airy feel, with a minimalistic contemporary design. “We wanted the store to be a canvas of simplicity, an ideal backdrop for showcasing our merchandise,” said Zoller. “Our space is very flexible, so we can fine-tune our merchandise on a moment’s notice – and we will.”
MIX Continues The Breakers’ Tradition as Innovator in the Hotel-Retail Industry, Entices Shopping-Minded Travelers
MIX is the newest store concept by The Breakers, whose exclusive retail offerings are an unanticipated experience for discerning travelers and experienced shoppers. Since becoming one of the leaders in the hotel-retail industry in the mid 1990s, The Shops of The Breakers have become a 12,000-square-foot mecca of distinctive merchandise, and Zoller has made ongoing renewal of the boutiques a priority.
