Question: How and when will I receive the travel information?
Answer: The visa approval papers are mailed to the candidate; you must go to the US embassy to obtain your visa. Once you have received your visa you must contact the Executive Administrator as soon as possible for a travel date. Your ticket will be an E-ticket; therefore, you would be required to show proper ID at the ticket counter, i.e. valid passport.
Question: Does the hotel provide accommodation or do I have to look for one as I arrive in Palm Beach?
Answer: The hotel provides accommodations for up to two weeks upon arrival. During this period you will be assisted in locating housing. The single accommodations range from $700 and up per unit, Doubles range from $900 and up per unit, triples range from $1,200 and up per unit. The majority of the apartments are non-furnished; obtaining rental furniture is possible.
Question: What are the medical benefits offered at The Breakers and when does the insurance begin?
Answer: You are insured from the 1st of the month of the period you are traveling in, and your insurance is covered through "AETNA". You may sign up once you have completed orientation.
Question: How much money should I bring with me and what is the amount of my salary?
Answer: The initial amount that is recommended for your expenses is approximately $6,000, which shall cover your purchase of a car, car insurance, driving license and apartment deposit. Non-Food & Beverage Department team members are compensated an average of $10.00 - $13.00 per hour plus time and a half for any hours over 40 in the same workweek. Food & Beverage Department team members are compensated $2.45-$5.15 per hour plus service charge depending on which restaurant you work in to average approximately $10.00 - $16.00 per hour.
Question: How much weight am I allowed to carry on the flight from my port of departure?
Answer: The legal limit is two suitcases and one small carry-on bag; a total weight of 70lbs per piece or about 60kgs for checked baggage, however we recommend you call the airline for specific information.
Question: What are the possibilities of continuing employment at The Breakers after I have finished my training program?
Answer: The continuation of an individual's employment will be based on the following:
* Performance record of the individual
* Candidate must be in a supervisory / managerial position
* Upon approval of the Extension Application, the company will incur the costs of the extension of the visa
Question: Will I be required to work on the weekends? How many hours per week am I required to work?
Answer: Work schedules are flexible; at times you will be working weekends. The weekly pay distribution is based on a 40-hour work week.
Question: How many departments will I work in during the 18 months?
Answer: Depending on the position and department, the training schedule will be discussed with the International Associate upon arrival. It could vary from 18 months in one department to nine months in two departments to six months in three departments.
Question: What is the policy on taking a vacation?
Answer: You are entitled to one week paid vacation after working 6 months full time. On your one-year anniversary you will receive an additional week of paid vacation. Both weeks will need to be taken by your second anniversary, for vacation time is not carried over into the next year. Your supervisor's approval is required.
