The Breakers Expands its Selection of Meaningful Team Member Programs to Further Enrich Its Renowned Workplace Culture

PALM BEACH, FL - At the heart of The Breakers Palm Beach, one of America’s most iconic resorts, is a purpose-driven, family-owned organization that is guided by a ‘people-first’ philosophy. For more than 129 years, the company’s employee-centric culture has shaped this dynamic workplace that is devoted to team member fulfillment - which plays a pivotal role in the property’s enduring success and reputation for excellence.

Continuing this legacy, The Breakers has introduced new initiatives focused on mental health, preventative care, personal development, and community service - key pillars that support the organization’s fundamental social impact values. These efforts have contributed to a remarkable 90% average retention rate and a 94% team member pride rating, based on the most recent Employee Opinion Survey.

“Our long-standing owners, heirs of founder Henry Flagler (circa 1896), are unwavering in their commitment to social responsibility, with the well-being of our 2,400 team members at the forefront,” said Denise Bober, Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at The Breakers. “By fostering an engaging work environment grounded in purpose, connection and personal growth, we inspire our employees to thrive, in turn, they encourage their family, friends, colleagues and community to flourish as well.”

LATEST WORKPLACE INITIATIVES:

On-Site Mental Health Counseling with Marquee Health

In February 2025, The Breakers broadened its employee wellness offerings with the introduction of a mental health counselor, in partnership with Marquee Health. This complimentary program provides associates with confidential, one-on-one meetings to support emotional well-being and resilience. The goal: to create a safe, trusted space for employees to receive timely, evidence-based care that fosters insights, healing and successful outcomes. Highlights include:

  • Private, in-person sessions with a licensed mental health clinician
  • Guidance for a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, relationships, substance abuse and/or trauma
  • Six complimentary sessions available annually, with continued consultations accessible via The Breakers’ Employee Assistance Program and/or insurance
  • Household and family members of each employee also have access to counseling opportunities via the Employee Assistance Program

“Our team has expressed immediate interest in prioritizing their mental health as appointments have booked up quickly through our on-site Wellness Clinic,” shared Cara Striluk, Benefits Services Manager at The Breakers. “Initial feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Marquee Health gives associates a wonderful opportunity to explore the benefits of therapy in a trusted setting,” she continued.

OnSight Eyes

As part of its growing suite of preventative care services to identify potential health risks, The Breakers debuted a new partnership with OnSight Eyes in February 2025. This comprehensive mobile clinic brings eye care directly to the workplace, allowing team members to complete eye exams, renew contact lenses, shop for eyewear and/or receive prescription fulfillment from a board-certified optometrist during their scheduled shifts.

OnSight Eyes joins The Breakers’ lineup of mobile wellness partners, which includes Florida Mobile Mammography, Jet Dental and OnSpot Dermatology - making high-quality, preventative healthcare more accessible and convenient for every team member.

MyBaby Sleepology

Recognizing the vital role sleep plays in family wellness, The Breakers recently introduced MyBaby Sleepology - a hands-on workshop facilitated by a certified sleep expert. Designed for employees who are parents of children from infancy to age five, these sessions use a science-based methodology and practical tools to improve sleep routines and quality of life. An overview of topics feature:

  • Common causes of disrupted sleep in young children
  • Effective strategies to prevent night wakings and early risings
  • Age-appropriate nap schedules and tips for lengthening naps
  • Overview of the four most popular sleep training methods
  • Optimizing sleep environments and bedtime routines

“This program gave me clear, actionable tips to help my child sleep better,” shared a Breakers’ team member. “After implementing the guidance, I’ve already seen a positive shift in my 8-month old’s sleep habits.”

Annual Day of 100,000 Meals

In partnership with The Palm Beach County Food Bank, The Breakers hosted two “Day of 100,000 Meals” events as part of its GIVES volunteer program - collectively packing 222,000 dinners for food-insecure families across Palm Beach County.

With 1 in 11 local residents struggling to put food on the table, and 1 in 7 children going to bed hungry, The Breakers’ team mobilized to make a powerful impact - ultimately helping to feed over 1.3M people.

GIVES encourages employees to use work time to support agencies through the use of Community Service Hours. Each year, full-time team members receive 16 hours (part-time employees receive 8-hours) to contribute time, energy and resources to non-profit organizations of their choice. In 2024, The Breakers contributed more than 35,000 volunteer hours to 274 local agencies.
